Catch an “Uptown Showdown” at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre

Comedy fans can enjoy a night of laughs as comedians debate the latest Uptown Showdown topic: Sweet or Savory? This show of verbal sparring over the most trivial topics is hosted by Matthew Love, with past guests including Ilana Glazer, Hasan Minhaj, Michael Ian Black, Maria Bamford, and more. The show starts at 7:30 pm on Dec. 11 at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre. Tickets are $16. See more info.

See live acts during Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square

After the annual tree lighting following Thanksgiving, the parks, sidewalks and surrounding venues of Lincoln Square come to life with live performances throughout December. Greet Winter Solstice at the American Museum of Natural History

Celebrate the start of winter in the planetarium. As part of the Museum of Natural History’s “After Hours” program, two specialists will preview astronomical happenings expected for the new year and explain winter solstice phenomena. Event is held at 7 pm on Dec. 20 at the Hayden Planetarium Space Theater on 81st Street. Tickets are $15. See event page.

Holiday Sights Tour

If you want to get in the holiday spirit with a look at Manhattan’s most iconic Christmas attractions, consider the Holiday Sights Tour in Central Park. Get a glimpse of the Swarovski Snowflake, Radio City Music Hall, Sixth Avenue highlights and the Saks Fifth Avenue Christmas Light Show. The tour begins in Central Park and ends in Bryant Park, lasting two hours. Tours run daily through Jan. 5. See additional information.

Shop the Columbus Holiday Market

The annual Columbus Holiday Market is in full-swing at Columbus Circle! Open daily through Christmas Eve, the shops feature homemade jewelry, foodstuffs, clothing and more in an open-air venue. Grab a hot chocolate and browse the stalls. Open Monday-Saturday from 10-8 pm; Sundays 10-7pm. Read more.
