Upcoming Spring 2018 Events at Lincoln Center

March 23 2018

Just one mile south of Hotel Beacon, Lincoln Center is alive with New York City’s creative spirit.

It’s just a 15-minute walk or 5-minute drive, so if you’re staying with us on the Upper West Side, Lincoln Center is easily accessible. The nearly seven-acre complex of buildings is home to the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera, and the New York City Ballet — there is always something great happening. Here’s a sample of upcoming events.

Dance

April 6-8, Russia's most innovative ballet company, Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg, will return to New York, making its Lincoln Center debut with four performances at the David H. Koch Theater, where it will present Eifman’s wildly acclaimed Anna Karenina, based on Leo Tolstoy's classic novel. From April 24 -June 3, you can see Balanchine’s groundbreaking Black & White ballets, a modernly styled but classically grounded program that offers a visual accompaniment to Bach’s double violin concerto.

Music

Lincoln Center is, of course, home to great music, including Classical, Pop, and Jazz. Events and artists you can see this spring include Toscanini: Preserving a Legacy in Sound, the free Big Umbrella Festival, and the all-female DIVA Jazz Orchestra.

Film

On April 14, The Silent Clowns Film Series — NYC's longest-running regularly scheduled showcase for classic silent film comedy — will take place at Lincoln Center. And on April 18 you can take in the free Film Society Kids Screening & Discussion, a special showcase of the ten best short films made by students in Film Society Kids.

Opera

From March 15 through April 19 you can see Phelim McDermott’s clever vision of Mozart’s comedy about the sexes, Così fan tutte. This version sports a carnival-esque, funhouse environment inspired by 1950s Coney Island—complete with bearded ladies, fire eaters, and a Ferris wheel. And there are just a few more shows left for Turandot, a grand spectacle of legendary China stars Oksana Dyka and Martina Serafin in the role of the ice princess and Marcelo Álvarez as the unknown prince who must thaw her heart or die which opened in October and runs through April 5.

Theater

A fun family event, the Light Show combines light and shadow and serene papery white landscape transitions to take children and their families on a multi-sensory journey. It’s at Lincoln Center from April 14-22. Then, from April 14 through May 6, you can join the Fogg Family on a journey through the sky in your very own hot air balloon in Up and Away, a theatre experience featuring puppetry, live music, and interactive play.

So, if you’re visiting Hotel Beacon this spring — and we hope you will — there are plenty of entertainment options to discover at Lincoln Center. We’ve just scratched the surface here — there are plenty more. We hope to see you soon!
