Get your Skates on NYC’s Spring Alternative to Ice Skating

March 20 2023

One of the best and most popular New York attractions in the winter months is the collection of ice skating rinks that crop up all over the city.

While the ice-skating rinks close for the spring and summer, you can still skate at one of the city’s most iconic ice-skating locations – the Rockefeller Center.

The ice might be long gone, but roller skating is the next best thing, and you can enjoy it all spring and summer long.

Where is Flipper’s Roller Boogie?

Located in front of the Rockefeller Center, Flipper’s Roller Boogie replaces the popular ice-skating rink between April and the 15th of October this year.

The Roller Boogie Palace was first thought up in Los Angeles in 1979 and was recreated for the first time in New York City in 2022.

This year the Boogie Palace Makes its comeback, and there is nowhere better to skate the night away in the city.

What to Know Before you Go

To attend Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace, you will need tickets, and they are best booked in advance – this can be done online or in person at the park.

Due to being an outside venue, adverse weather conditions can affect your experience, and the Roller Boogie can be closed if there’s a lot of rain. If this happens, you can swap your tickets or enjoy a full refund.

Children of all ages are welcome at Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace; however – children under 6 need to be accompanied by an adult on skates. Children under 13 need to be supervised by an adult – but skates aren’t required, and you can supervise with a drink in hand from the spectators’ area.
