Date Ideas for Fall in New York City

September 30 2024

New York is the perfect backdrop for any romance, and the fall months are no exception. From the vibrant foliage to the crisp air, and the coffee shops to the fall decorations there are endless cozy activities to enjoy with your loved one—but what are the best date ideas to make the most of the season?

Visit Central Park

There is nothing more romantic than enjoying a stroll through Central Park when the fall foliage is in its full glory. Head down to Bow Bridge for the perfect photo opportunity with your loved one or rent a rowboat and take to the water with your partner. If walking isn’t for you, rent a pedicab at the entrance and get a full tour of the park while you relax.

New York Botanical Gardens

The pumpkin garden at the New York Botanical Gardens is a unique idea for a fall date. Grab an apple cider or a hot chocolate and take a walk through the pumpkin display and other autumn-themed exhibits.

Rooftop Igloos

New York is famous around the world for its impressive observation decks offering spectacular views of the city skyline—however as fall rolls round, they can get pretty chilly. A number of different rooftops, like the rooftop at 230 Fifth, offer heated igloos. The igloos are private and an intimate space to enjoy drinks and a view without braving the cold.

Apple Picking

Before the weather turns for the worse, a great way to enjoy a sunny fall day is to visit Hudson Valley for a day of apple picking, hayrides, and cider donuts. It’s something unique to enjoy, and a great way to escape the city for a romantic day out with your partner.

Outdoor Movie Night

One of the best things about fall is snuggling up in front of a movie and New York is home to plenty of outdoor movie screenings—even as the weather turns colder. Bryant Park and the Rooftop Cinema Club are two great options, but don’t forget a blanket to cuddle up under!
